Now that comics are beginning to be accepted in the classroom, how can teachers best use the medium to further students' education through comic books? Rebecca Thompson (American Physical Society) and David Ellis (American Physical Society), the author and illustrator of the Spectra: The Original Laser Superhero series, discuss the artistic challenges specific to creating scientifically accurate physics comics and how to entertain and educate at the same time. Kevin Degnan (El Camino College) discusses the challenges of providing ethical and reliable student access to comics in the classroom, and explores how teachers might navigate the difficulties of finding rare comics without piracy. Rich Shivener (University of Cincinnati) examines the effectiveness of replacing writers' memos and reflections with comics as a form of teaching and assignment evaluation in the composition classroom.
